The Gliding Door Home Improvement Project

Often, homeowners have an idea for a home improvement project that seems too complicated or out of reach, making it only a dream. Recently, one of our customers came to us with an idea and we helped turn their dream into reality. Below is a summary of the project which we were thrilled to be a part of from start to finish.

First, the four existing aluminum windows and back door along with a portion of the exterior rear wall were removed.

The opening was then framed with 2”x 4” studs along with an engineered beam to support the weight of the roof.

Next, a bronze colored, twelve-foot (12’) Neuma Legacy Impact Gliding door with matching multipoint lock set was installed.

Once the door was installed, LP TechShield around the framing of the exterior opening, along with the vapor barrier was installed, followed by the installation of LP Smartside siding to match the existing exterior siding of the home.

For the interior, R-13 insulation around the door was installed, followed by new sheetrock, wall texture, door trim, and baseboards. Lastly, the new sheetrock and trim were painted to match existing interior paint color.

From our customer: “It was a three days turnaround.  They showed up on time, worked all day, kept us informed, took care to keep a clean workspace, and seemed passionate and attentive to details while doing great work.  You don’t really see that these days.”
